January 2005 Week 2
The Brush Variance Palette

This tutorial was interesting since it contained a lot of Presets that I do not have in PSP 9.I did my best to re-create the effects using the Presets that I have. I have listed the differences below the picture sets.

 Dog playing in yard

Now this one was very tricky. First off, I never claim to be artistic, so my free-hand is not that excellent. Secondly, my PSP 9 did not have the "Animal Fur Generator" in the Presets, so I had to improvise.

I did a couple rough drafts before I settled on one version to use. I used the "Curl" Preset and changed the size: 25, step: 10, density: 95, Rotation: 25 and opacity: 100. I did a rough outline of what I thought would be a dog. I used three shades of brown; light, medium and dark. I ovelapped the colors to come up with this scruffy looking dog.

When I was satisfied, I then started anew. This time I made a sky with a few clouds, added a lawn from my tubes. Then I preceeded to make another dog using the Curl Preset. I added blades of grass (size 25) and some pink daisies (size 10). I tried to make it look like he was playing in a yard.

 Clouds one clouds two

I did two sets of clouds, both with the light, wispy and airy look plus the slightly darker underside. These remind me of lazy summer days, few clouds in the sky, and laying in the grass when I was younger.

The smudged clouds on the left remind me of lighter clouds, on cloudy days, that get shadowed from the sun. The cloud on the right is like the lone wisp of a cloud that floats all alone, with no others in sight.

scattered flowers scattered flowers with leaves

On the left, I made three flowers following the instructions in the lesson. To me, they look like a form of abstract oil painting. On the right, I added some leaves from my tubes.
